The NEO project is a major challenge for Brussels and Belgium as a whole. Its Europe-wide scope is an essential part of it. The City authorities want to make a success of the challenge, especially in light of the past. The capital has often been faced with urban projects which were not managed in the best way and did not have the greatest vision. According to many international players in town planning and architecture, Belgium does not have a good world image in terms of its major infrastructure projects. We want to change that image with this plan. Such a change will also come from the international development of Brussels.

The project as devised by the mayor, Freddy Thielemans, and created by the City of Brussels team seeks to be an example of good governance and sustainable development.

The project is an ambition for Brussels.
