The NEO project includes a plan that car park C, which is used for many large events at Heysel, should be totally rebuilt underground. This should provide both better parking facilities for motorists and high-quality development above ground.
The car park will offer 10,000 places split over five levels. It will also be designed to improve the entrance and exit flow so as to avoid traffic junctions and congestion.
The car park will be directly accessible from the ring road. A cable car system will also link it to the multimodal Heysel station, with the metro and trams 3 and 9.
In this way, it could be used by commuters, for whom 3,000 places will be reserved (Park and Ride).
The car park is operated by a separate company whose shareholders are NEO scrl, Brussels Expo and private partners.
The new car park should be operational by June 2019.
Building work will be carried out in stages to enable a limited but sufficient number of parking places to be available for Brussels Expo customers.
